Re:gen Tremorfa

A typical street in TremorfaIgnite Re:gen is the new incarnational mission opportunity for encouraging people to move into strategic urban areas of need in South Wales.

It’s a call for all radical disciples to consider whether God is calling you to reach out in the name of Jesus to the lost, the least and the lowest in some of the toughest housing estates in the UK. We are confident that this generation of Jesus followers will accept the challenge to not just share the gospel but be the good news.

Ignite Re:gen 1 - Tremorfa

A derelict house in Tremorfa

The area of Tremorfa and Splott is in the top 100 most deprived areas in Wales and in the top 3 of the most deprived areas in Cardiff. It is a recognised neighbourhood Priority Area by Cardiff County Council. This is exactly where the people of God need to be. What about you??

Bart and Sharon Geere have been appointed as the team leaders for Ignite Re:gen Tremorfa. Living in Tremorfa they have a heart for the people of this area. They have instigated regular prayer meetings and have begun youth ministry with our partner church Belmont Baptist Church.

This is the community hub of the project. Although much of the work is done on the streets, in the neighbourhood and through lifestyle example, we believe the local church is the hope of the world. For our team, this is the local church.

Activity

Theologian, priest and martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer said “the person who love their dream of community will destroy community (even if their intentions are ever so earnest), but the person who loves those around them will create community”.

For the team to develop authentic, incarnational ministry, the first call will be to love their neighbours as themselves. From this will pour out service which might include youth clubs, detached ministry, sports teams, kids clubs etc. The bottom line is that each team member commits to be involved in something every week, simple!

Team Members

Team members will be expected to:

  • Move into the area
  • Be a committed Christian over 18 yrs of age
  • Be able to get excellent references
  • Be a self-motivated, dynamic, team player
  • Commit to a minimum of 4 hours works for Ignite Re:gen each week
  • Be able to support themselves financially, there are no paid positions!
