IGNITE A Parents View

posted by: Admin on 01/11/2011

Being part of Ignite has had such a positive impact on my life. Ignite, through their passionate commitment to reach the youth of today have brought two of my three children to faith. Jesus has saved Jack and Sarah’s souls, but Ignite were the facilitators. Jack [16] and Sarah [14] were invited to a local IgniteHope event in 2008. We weren’t attending a church, but Jack’s friend did and he was very keen for them to be involved. They were based in Dinas Powys and were assi...

Jack's Story

I was living life in the fast lane, get through the school day, do some GCSE’s, do some A-levels, go to Uni and get a good job. There, life done. But before I could even start the GCSE part the plans were stopped in their tracks. I was invited to a ‘music gig’ called Ignite, it was not exactly what I thought it would be. It turned out it was a ‘youth’ church event. There people jumping, dancing and singing decent music. I remember thinking “you can’t do...

I first came to know Jesus when I was just turned 15, I had been going to church for a while with a friend, I liked what I’d seen and heard about Jesus and thought He’d be a good person to have in my life, so I invited Him into my life. My Parents have been committed Christians from before I was born. I don’t think I have been given a better gift than that ever in all of my life (except for the gift of life that God has given me, of course). I don’t remember a particular time I became a Christian as such, I’ve always known that my parents’ lives where shaped by their faith in Jesus, and I learnt from them to trust God. Uganda When I was 7 my parents moved to Uganda, because they believed God had call...

I went to church with my family up until I was about 13. After I stopped going (because it wasn't cool), I got involved with the wrong people. I started swearing a lot, fighting, drinking and smoking. I didn't think smoking weed would be a much bigger deal so I tried it with some "mates" who already did it. I carried on smoking weed for about a year. After that it got a bit boring and my money was low, so I decided to start stealing. This still wasn't enough to feed my habit so I decid...

I've always considered myself a "Christian". I went to church every Sunday without fail, sat on the pew, and counted down the minutes until I could leave. When I was five my mum and dad got divorced and I moved from London to Cardiff. After a lot of hurt and tears I decided I didn't want to see my dad again. Every Father's day I would feel the same pain and every time I saw a friend with their father I felt that same jealously. All I wanted was a dad who loved me. My dream was to be ca...
