Tales from Rajahmundry
posted by: Nigel James on 24 June 2008 @ 17:42

I've recently returned from another mission trip to Rajahmundry, this time with students from IPFW University in Fort Wayne, USA.

We managed to visit 4 of the Ignite churches, and were involved in the dedication service for one, and helped lay some bricks at another. In one church service we prayed for a young Hindu girl with an arm withered by polio. It had been completely immobile but by the time we left she could raise it to her mouth in a cupping motion in order to feed herself!

Perhaps the highlight was presenting Sagar, our Ignite India Youth Director, with the keys for a brand new motorbike which will help him visit the hundreds of young people signed up to Ignite throughout many rural villages. You can see some photos from the trip on the Ignite India page.

Stop the Suicides
posted by: Admin on 23 June 2008 @ 20:37

There has been a spate of tragic suicides amongst young people in South Wales. A group of Christians have decided to pray and fast this Wednesday. It will be a time to cry out to God and ask him to prevent this terrible loss of life. To register formally, sign up on facebook http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=15989509363

In any event, consider praying and fasting either from food or even TV, the internet, mobile phones...indeed whatever will drive you to prayer.

Nigel in currently in India. He is leading a team with Ben Gates, the chaplain from IPFW in Fort Wayne. They start a Pastors conference today but have already seen God do amazing things on this trip. They prayed for a girl who had a damaged arm as a result of polio. She is now fully able to use the arm for the first time, Praise God!

This partnership with Pastor Prassad and Gateway ministries has been a blessing to Ignite. For more information click on the India flag at the bottom of the page

Hope for Prince Charles
posted by: Dave Burton on 13 June 2008 @ 15:58

Yesterday our very own Nathan Davies was given the honour of visiting Clarence House, along with other key Hope 08 workers, to meet Prince Charles. We'll be getting feedback from Nathan himself in the coming days (hopefully) but here's the official press release sent out by Hope 08:

On June 12th over 80 Hope08 participants gathered at Clarence House, attending a reception hosted by The Prince of Wales.

His Royal Highness paid tribute to Hope08 – and those involved – for their ‘devotion and ability to motivate people’.

He said that he was ‘fascinated to hear about how Hope08 started and what a marvellous response it has received all over this country.’

‘It’s so encouraging to hear how it seems to have struck a chord. It’s wonderful to witness the fact that so many denominations are working together and overcoming possible suspicion – you are helping to overcome all that, and display that kind of witness which is so incredibly valuable.’

All the delegates present are taking part in the Hope08 ‘hours of kindness’ scheme – serving their communities in word and action.

For example, the team of delegates from Hull have been working to help those around them. They have been helping 13-19 year olds access education, training and employment. Other projects they are doing include clubs for elderly people, refugee groups and numerous community action events.

Bob Duerden – the chairman of Hope08 in Hull – said that Thursday was ‘a very good day that was most encouraging’.

The next high point of Hope08 activities is ‘Hope Explored’, a chance for churches to invite those they are serving to find out more about Christianity. Events planned so far include town wide banquets, street parties and courses in churches throughout the UK.

Spree Wales
posted by: Dave Burton on 22 May 2008 @ 12:10

I hope you all enjoyed IgniteHope! I know I did. It was really encouraging to see so many of you going all out for God and making a real difference in the community...

I promised a few people that I would get details of an event called "Spree Wales" on the website. Although it's not an Ignite event as such, Spree Wales is a 3 day event being held on the Millennium Coastal Park Festival Fields in Llanelli between 11th and 13th July.

It's for young people, like yourselves, aged between 8 and 15 years. It's gonna be packed with fun activities for you and your youth groups with live bands, great speakers, a cafe marquee, watersports and much more... according to the flier that I am shamelessly copying. lol

If you want more information call: 07737 498719 or e-mail info@spreewales.com or visit their site www.spreewales.com.
