Mission Statement:

Ignite challenges people to discover God’s purpose in their life, to be a disciple and to transform their generation. Declaration

  • Trusting God to provide your needs

If you are interested in one or more of the following then Ignite Cymru could be for you:

  • Evangelism
  • Prayer
  • Dramas

  • Technical

An ability to speak Welsh would be helpful but notessential. A current, clean driving license would be an advantage. The Ignite Cymru team will travel around Wales working with churches, youth groups and high schools. Transport and equipment will be provided.

Where?

The Ignite Cymru team runs from September 1st to August 31st of the following year. Team members will need to make a commitment of one year, and in some circumstances can apply for a second and third year.

When?

The team has a fully equipped administration base in the Big Ideas office in Dinas Powys. Those team members who apply from outside Cardiff will be accommodated in a flat in Hebron Hall where the Big Ideas offices are located. Team members from Cardiff can live at home.

Training

September is given over to a comprehensive induction and training programme covering:

  • Ignite introduction and induction
  • Personal discipleship
  • Gospel presentations
  • RE lessons for High schools
  • Team building and relationships

Pastoral Care

The team will come under the responsibility of Nigel James, a director of Ignite and Big Ideas, and other full time staff. Team members from Cardiff will be expected to continue attendance at their home church during the year. Team members from outside Cardiff will be placed in an appropriate local church.

Costs

  • For team members living at home - £1,800
  • For team members living in Ignite accommodation - £2,800

Real costs for each team member during the year will actually be double these figures but Ignite will subsidise the team.

Costs include: Accommodation (if appropriate), heating and lighting, team transport, training, equipment, insurance and fully equipped office.

How do I apply?

  • Ask God to give you wisdom
  • You must be over 18
  • Talk to your parents
  • Talk to your church leader (we will be asking for a reference)
  • Decide how you will raise the finance for the year
  • Send the attached application forms back to Ignite
  • You will be asked to attend an interview.

Additional Information

Applications for 2008-2009 are now being considered.

Team Leader

A 2 or 3 year appointment. The Ignite Cymru team leader will have some experience in leadership, evangelism, working with young people and should be able to uphold the values of IGNITE and be committed to evangelism amongst young people in Wales. An ability to speak Welsh would be desirable but not essential. This is a self-funded post. We will train and equip you to develop a group of individuals and churches that pray for you, encourage you, and give toward your financial Costs.
